RECIPE FOR CONFUSION

Trifle for pudding
trifle for tea
trifles between 
you and me.

The mixed fruit and custard,
the custard turned mustard
and made into curry.

To stop the palate
gagging in a hurry,
bring out the mixer.

The food fixer?
The under the carpet sweeper?
The affinity cheapener?

The recipe went wrong,
boy, does it pong!
The bell goes ding dong.

I'm lost in confusion
under the illusion
that the trifle is me.
